When you buy selected Co-op products and services, 2p for every £1 spent goes into your membership account. And we’ll split the same between like-minded organisations and local causes.
You can select a local cause you would like to support.
If you do not select a cause to support, we’ll share the funds you raised equally between the two causes in your community.
We give you a new set of causes to choose from every October.
You can change the cause you support at any time.
We support two local causes with Co-op in Wellingborough and two in Rushden and Higham Ferrers:
1st Wellingborough Scouts
Young people
They would like to make scouting affordable for all in our neighbourhood, keep costs down and update worn equipment to offer the best opportunities they can to young people.
About this cause
We would like to make scouting in our area more affordable for everyone. By keeping costs down, they can encourage more young people to join and make the most of the opportunity scouting can offer. They would also update some outdated equipment to allow the group to continue offering the best experience they can.
The Daylight Centre
Access to food
Their food bank relieves food poverty by distributing over 3600 food parcels a year to those most in need, including fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and dairy, in addition to the standard ambient products.
About this cause
Their vision is to be an effective, leading organisation preventing and alleviating poverty, homelessness and social exclusion in North Northamptonshire. They aim to prepare adults impacted by homelessness, poverty and social exclusion for healthier, happier, independent and purposeful futures.

How this cause brings people in the community together
Their food bank relieves food poverty for groups we consider vulnerable and often marginalised. This includes families with small children, those with no recourse to public funds, those experiencing homelessness, worklessness and/or those in significant financial hardship. For the last 3 years they have seen a steady year-on-year increase in food poverty. This year there has been a further increase of 16% in demand for our food poverty relief. First the pandemic impacted on hundreds of households, then they entered the current economic downturn which has served to exacerbate the situation further with rising fuel costs, soaring food prices, and rent and mortgage increases. Salaries are not keeping up with inflation, and we are seeing a growing number of working families accessing the food bank.
The Never Alone Project
Mental wellbeing
They get together once a month to help broken-hearted teens who have lost a parent, a sibling or a friend. They aim to help them feel less alone and more understood.
About this cause
The Never Alone Project is a small charity based in Northamptonshire. They support bereaved children, their families and teachers. They work across Northamptonshire to offer specialist and tailored support. The service we offer helps reduce isolation, improve mental wellbeing and create a safe space to deal with grief. Their regular service provision is as follows: parent/carer peer support groups; children groups; complex grief online support group individual support, including home visits, phone and email support; referral and information service. These are all free to our families. They also offer a Helping Children with Loss programme for professionals, teaching staff and parents/carers who support bereaved children.

How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will help bereaved teenagers to process their grief. They will provide a safe and nurturing space for them to talk about issues that affect them. They will also provide ‘ice-breaker’ activities and refreshments. 1 in 29 children under 18 experience the loss of a parent or sibling. During a time that is already known for being very hard to navigate, Their teens need guidance and support to navigate this difficult time. The Never Alone Project aims to offer groups to help reduce isolation and improve the mental wellbeing of teens 13-18. Although they run children groups, they know that our teens need their own space, to enable them to talk openly about difficult topics, such as self harm. Their grief recovery specialists will offer appropriate support.
Higham Ferrers Gateway Club
Mental wellbeing
We would introduce our members to music from other countries by engaging a tutor to run music sessions, hopefully, staging a musical evening, and would invite Gateway friends and members’ families.
About this cause
Higham Gateway Cub is a self-funding registered charity (no. 1120121) that provides social and leisure opportunities for adults with a learning disability. It is affiliated to Mencap and led by volunteers. They meet weekly and enjoy a wide variety of activities, some of which our members would be unable to access independently. Their membership covers a wide range of abilities and circumstances. They receive no funding and raise all their funds through members’ weekly subs, their own fundraising (e.g. sponsored walks etc) grants and donations.

How this cause brings people in the community together
They feel this would give their members’ confidence a boost and consequently help their interaction with the general public. It would also help the local community understand the special needs of adults living with a learning disability.
