Hello everyone, today’s Advent Calendar window opens for Wellingborough Eco Group’s ECO HUB at Glamis Hall on their busiest day of the week! And it all started thanks to the lovely people at Glamis Hall, with Wellie Wombles on a Tuesday roughly two years ago to give people the opportunity to take up litter picking. A few months later some items were brought in for swaps and then food saved from what was left at Redeem Funds food bank a bit later.

There’s now loads to get involved with, but Tuesday is still the busiest day with Happy Café, where you can have free hot food plus tea or coffee, and then Tuesday continues with Food Sharers, Wellingborough Swap Shop and with Tuesday Tidy Ups of course. The purpose of ECO HUB is to save waste and to look after the environment, but it also saves people money and provides a fun community space.
Wellingborough Eco Group were a Co-op Local Cause last year, one of the first environmental causes for the Co-op, with Co-op customers raising £1679.61 for ECO HUB. In partnership we have held two Co-op Sustainability LIVE events for the county at ECO HUB, and local Co-op shops and Co-op Wincanton have supported many of the activities, including buying Christmas presents for local children at this weekends Children’s Christmas Party!
Watch the video to hear Freddie talk about how it all started and about Tuesday Tidy Ups, Emma talk about Swap Shop and the new School Uniform Reuse Project, Tania talk about Food Sharers, and Kay talk about Happy Cafe and this year’s Winter Warm Space. ECO HUB is where you will find me on most Tuesdays 10-6 and Thursdays 10-2, if you want to pop in and say hello, have a cup of tea and to find out all about what Wellingborough Eco Group do. See you there soon, Merry Christmas everyone!
