I’m Jonathan Hornett, formerly the Co-op Member Pioneer for Wellingborough, Rushden and Higham Ferrers. My role was to connect with the community and help support local causes via our area’s stores.
As with all my colleagues, 27th July was my last active day as a Member Pioneer, so on behalf of all of the local causes that we have supported, and great people I that have been lucky enough to work with, I had a farewell tour of my stores this week to thank them for their support, here are a few pictures of just some of my colleagues from my farewell tour.
I would also like to thank all of my fellow Member Pioneers, particularly in Northamptonshire, and my many Member Pioneer Co-ordinators for their support as well; and a huge thank you to Phil and the team at Co-op Wincanton Wellingborough for working with me and for their amazing support too.
I have had a wonderful two and three quarter years, and I believe that I have made a massive difference in Wellingborough, Rushden and Higham Ferrers thanks to the Co-op. I really do hope that getting rid of Member Pioneers doesn’t mean an end to Co-op being there for the community as I fear it will. It seems like the focus is changing too far away from what has always made the Co-op special, being at the heart of the community. I/we will be missed by local causes, councils, stores, members and local people. It feels like a sad end, but I hope the new Member Activators are a success. Please do continue to support our local causes:
This will be my last update of this website as Co-op Member Pioneer Wellingborough, Rushden and Higham Ferrers, but it will not be the last time you will hear from me. I will continue to help and connect good people and great causes via Wellingborough Organisations on Wellingborough Forum, Wellingborough Organisations Community Forum and Rushden and Higham Community Forum. Find out more on the Wellingborough Organisations and Rushden and Higham websites.
I will also continue to lead some amazing projects for Wellingborough Eco Group including all the good things we do at ECO HUB, find out more on the Wellingborough Eco Group website too. But for now, thank you all!
